Do you see my Laundry Room artwork above the cubby? It goes back further against the back wall, but I kinda like the looks of it showing like this. This is how it looks when it is tucked in. Altogether, we spent about $100 on this project, maybe a little less. What a fabulous feature I had not planned on. It was just enough space to allow me to stack clothes and linens on as I fold. But, once it was out together and put into place, I figured out it created something very handy which I was without.Ī handy folding table. When I originally thought of this idea, it was for extra storage space. I even dedicated one to a trash bin for lint, etc., where I added a trash liner. Otherwise, I have everything accessible in one of the storage cubby baskets. I have a small wire basket which stays on top which gives me easy access to the items I need most. It also doubles as a convenient hand-cloth hanger. We had a spare handle in our “Flip House Leftovers” bin, so we added it as an easy way to pull the cubby out. It fits perfectly between the washer/dryer and the wall, and I can roll it away when not being used. I chose storage baskets similar to these, because they looked best with our laundry room.Īnd here is our DIY Laundry Room Cubby on Wheels… After a few “wirty dords” putting the cubby together (haha!), he turned it on its long side and added a castor in each corner. So, I sent The Hubbs to Lowe’s with a list and he purchased one of these cubbies from Closet Maid. I went online and found this Laundry Cart and this Laundry Unit, but it wasn’t what neither the look or functionality that I wanted or needed. When space is at a premium, one must think outside the box to utilize every square inch. I had a space between the stack washer/dryer unit and the wall. We added a beadboard ceiling, beadboard walls: “ How to Fake Expensive Molding“ Open Shelving for our Pantry: “ Make Your Own Chalkboard Pantry Tags“ Storage Shelving: “ Building a Large Shelf on a Budget“ and, a new Samsung Washer and Dryer. LOL), my son and I took out the sledgehammer and went to work. One weekend while The Hubbs was off on a gold trip (that will teach him a lesson. haha) And a tight, barely functional space. Ratty cabinets which the previous owner had tried to “distress.” (they only thing they distressed me me. ![]() (excuse the picture’s they were all I had at the time.)Ī tiny pantry which you could barely reach into. Here is our DIY Laundry Room Cubby.īefore I show you how easy this project was, let’s take a little journey back to where this room started. I had in mind a small DIY project, and my oh-s0-sweet hubby offered to take it on for me. This room has been a test of my organizing skills, which are limited at best. You know the ole’ saying “work with what you got?” That aptly applies to this space. A few years ago, we completely remodeled the out-of-date space and added as much functionality as we could. My laundry room also has to serve as my pantry, so space is at a premium. Our laundry room has come a long way, baby. By adding some minor changes to a standard store bought cubby, you can create a great rolling cart that can be used for additional storage and organizing in any room of the home. ![]()
